In their final regular season home game, the eighth grade boys basketball team kept the season record unblemished, taking a 47-15 victory over the Crystal City Hornets Monday night. The Tigers are 7-0 on the season.
The Tigers jumped out to a 16-4 lead after the first quarter and extended that lead to 28-7 at the half. Cole Johnson scored ten points in the first half. He would end the game with 14 points. Josh Moreland also scored 14 points for the Tigers.
Despite the good offensive numbers, head coach Tony Kinder looked to the other end of the court in his observation of the game. “Defense, once again, was the key to our success,” he said. Festus has only allowed opponents 106 points this season. That’s an average of 15.1 points a game.
The Tigers will now hit the road for the rest of the season. First stop is Thursday at Perryville. Game time is approximately 6 p.m.
