The Festus varsity boys basketball team had trouble on the offensive side of the court Tuesday at Fox. The team had its fourth lowest scoring output of the season as the Tigers were on the losing end of a 64-46 score. The loss drops the Tigers to 7-7 on the season.
A tough third quarter proved too much for Festus to overcome. The Tigers scored only seven points, and the game turned from a five-point game to a 15-point game. Festus trailed 26-21 at the half, but found themselves down 43-28 after the third.
“We had a particularly rough night on the offensive end,” said head coach Jason Therrell. “We missed some easy attempts and also some free throw opportunities. However, these kids are really working hard for me, and I appreciate everything they are doing. Tonight did not go their way, but other nights will.”
Festus was led by Joe Woods (12) and Kobe Branscomb (10) who both scored 11 points on the night. Elijah Richeson (12) and Brennan Pryor (11) added nine points each.
Festus will look towards the next match-up, a conference tilt at home against Hillsboro on Friday. The Hawks enter the game with a 13-1 record. Tip-off is set for approximately 7 p.m.
