The Festus girls junior varsity track team eclipsed 20 other schools in winning the Hillsboro Invitational on Wednesday. The meet was held at Herky High School because of damage to the Hillsboro track.
Two relay teams took first place to help lead the team to victory. The 4×200 team (1:57.80) and 4×800 team (11:08.56) both crossed the finish line first. Additionally, Paige Treon (9) won the 3200 meter run with a time of 12:25.85, Abby McMillin (9) took first in the triple jump (32-6.5), and Alexa Sumpter (9) won the discus with a toss of 91-3.
Melissa Wolk (10) had two second place finishes, taking second in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:36.48, and in the 1600 meter run, clocking in at 5:47.03.
The 4×400 relay team took third place honors with a time of 4:38.35. Yasmine Schaaf (9) took third in the 3200 meter run with a time of 13:37.18, and McMillin placed third in the long jump with a leap of 14-6.
The girls are back at it tomorrow at DeSoto. The meet begins at 3:30 p.m.
