It took three sets, but the Festus varsity volleyball team defeated Jefferson 22-25, 25-15, 25-19 Tuesday in the season’s last regular season game. The win improves the Tigers’ season mark to 19-12-2.
Festus got a strong offensive attack from Bria Garmon (10) with 14 kills, Emily Werner (12) with 13 kills, and Maddy Wenzelburger (11) with nine kills. Werner added 15 assists and led the team with eight blocks. Kate Todd (10) led the team with 19 assists.
The team now prepares for the district tournament which begins on Monday at Park Hills Central. Festus, the number two seed, will take on North County at 6:15 p.m. It will be the first meeting between the two teams this season.
