The Festus varsity golf squad had an excellent showing at the Ste. Genevieve Invitational on Wednesday. The Tigers shot a 370, placing them in a tie for third with Park Hills Central. North County won the event, shooting a 344, winning by ten strokes over West County.
For the Tigers, Owen Horsley (12) was the top golfer, carding in at a 14-over-par 86. He had an excellent back nine, shooting just four-over-par. He tied for seventh out of 79 golfers. Michael Smith (12) was four shots behind Horsley at a 90, placing him tied for 17th. He was consistent all day, shooting nine over on both the front and back nine. Kyle LaRose (12) was next with a 96. Rounding out the scoring for Festus was Logan Uding (12) shooting a 98, and Grant Flotron (9) coming in at 120.
The Tigers are back in action on Friday at St. Vincent. Tee time is 3:15 p.m.
