The Tigers fell short on Wednesday at West City Park against the Northwest Lions in Varsity baseball play. Festus scored 5 in the first two innings but the visiting team were able to run in seven. Festus got a combined effort on the mound from Sophomore Ian Brown, Sophomore Nate Moore and Junior Trent Ellis.
On the night offensively, Festus scored five on six hits. Senior Collin Reando collected two hits, a run scored, and a rbi in the game to lead all scoring. Senior Cole Wagner tripled and scored twice. Sophomore Nate Moore collected a hit and a rbi. Sophomore Wyatt Huskey scored a run and collected a hit. Junior Cameron Ford reached safely on a hit, collected a run batted in and scored once.
On the mound, Ian Brown started the game and gave way to Nate Moore. Brown struck out 4 in two innings of work. Moore pitched 3 1/3 innings allowing one run and striking out 5. Junior Trent Ellis was effective finishing the game pitching two scoreless innings in relief.
Festus suffered from missed opportunities on offense especially early in the game and were not able to get the big inning. There was some bright spots for the Tiger pitching in the game. Festus did commit two errors on defense and for the first time this season was shut out in the stolen base category offensively. The Tigers travel to BMAC in Bridgeton on Monday to play the Homeschool St. Louis Patriots at 430pm and at home on Tuesday for Jefferson at 430pm.
