The Festus Tigers Varsity team traveled to Chesterfield on Wednesday night to the Parkway Central Campus for the final Round Robin Game of the Parkway Tourney.

The Tigers sent Junior Right Hander Connor Wilkinson to the mound. Wilkinson would pitch 5 innings and allow 2 runs on 5 hits. Offensively, the Tigers only run came in the third inning, with two outs, when Senior Charlie Pratt singled home Kobe Branscomb. Branscomb would score the only run for the Tigers.

A big play in the game came in the sixth inning. With two outs and runners on first and third, Zach Baisch broke with an early break play for second base. Collin Reando, the runner at third broke for home after the throw went to second. The planned play seemed to be executed properly when Reando head first slide into the plate. The game appeared to be tied at 2-2 with a huge momentum swing to the Tigers, and the home plate umpire called Reando out claiming he missed home plate.

Festus would still be trailing 2-1 going into the bottom of the sixth inning. Senior Ryan Reando relieved Wilkinson and the Central Mustangs would plate 4 runs in the inning on just two hits.
The Tigers would go 1-2-3 in the top of the seventh inning. There were many positives in the game for the Tigers. Once again, the Tigers competed well and seemingly were in the game with a chance to win. However, the surrendering of the big inning late to their opponent has haunted the Tigers in many ballgames this season. The Tigers will have a short time to regroup and prepare for the final conference game of the season. A win over Hillsboro on Friday will secure a JCAA Conference title for the Tigers. Festus vs. Hillsboro on Friday at 4:30 pm. The location is still to be determined based on heavy rain in the forecast.

In the game, Offensively, The Tigers had five hits. Collin Reando, Zach Baisch, Charlie Pratt, Zach Liles, and Eddie Martin all reached safely on hits. An effort tonight all the Tigers can be proud of, we just didn’t play quite good enough to win.

Festus plays on Monday at home vs. Cape Notre Dame at 4:30 pm and at Affton on Wednesday to finish the regular season.
