The Varsity team traveled to the BMAC Bridgeton Complex on Monday night to play the St. Louis areas only Home-School participate in Baseball, the St. Louis Patriots. Festus would muster only 2 hits on the night and fall 4-0 to the Patriots.
Senior Zach Baisch started on the mound and he pitched three innings. Baisch did surrender two runs in the first but struck out 4 and walked no one in three innings of work. Sophomore Collin Reando pitched the fourth and fifth innings and struck out two and allowed one earned run. Senior Ryan Reando pitched the sixth inning and allowed just one base runner. Pitching wasn’t the issue Monday night. They made pitches when they had to.
Offensively, Festus was locked up by the work of Lefty Evan Clawson for the Patriots. He would strike out 15 Tiger hitters and not allow a hit until the fourth inning when Sophomore Cole Wagner singled. Wagner, Zach Baisch, and Connor Wilkinson would all collect singles.
In the seventh inning, with one out, Festus would load the bases after two hits and an infield error. However, Clawson would retire the final two hitters to earn the complete game shut out.
Festus now prepares for Hillsboro on Thursday at West City Park at 4:30 pm. This weekend, on Friday, they play at Wilson Rozier field in Farmington in the Farmington Wood Bat Classic. Festus plays Winfield and Farmington on Friday and Pattonville on Saturday. Last year, the Tigers won the Wood Bat Classic at Farmington.
